Area volleyball athletes named among the best in the state

Nov. 24—JAMESTOWN — On Monday there were 24 Class B volleyball players who received some exciting news.

Six of them played for area programs.

The NDHSCA 2025 Class B Volleyball All-State Team was released on Nov. 24. Brynn Sorenson of Medina/Pingree-Buchanan, Brooklynn Schumacher from Linton/HMB and New Rockford-Sheyenne's Ava Peterson were all named to the 2025 First Team All-State roster.

Sorenson's teammate, Violet Bohl, a junior setter for the Thunder picked up second team honors as did Kelsey Johnson of Griggs-Midkota and Elli Lloyd a senior out of Edgeley/Kulm-Montpelier.

Sorenson was named the 2025 NDHSCA POWERade Outstanding Senior Athlete at the conclusion of the 2025 Class B State Tournament on Nov. 22. Her coach, Jacie Connell was selected as the NDHSCA SUBWAY Coach of the Year.

The Thunder advanced to its second-ever state tournament by way of winning its second-straight Region 1 championship. M/P-B cruised through the quarterfinal and semifinal rounds to appear in the 2025 State Championship game. Connell and company wound up falling to Langdon/AEM 3-2.
