The future of the Marvel Universe is once again in peril, as fans have been thrust into the nightmarish Age of Revelation. A world in which the former X-Men hero Doug Ramsey has taken new name, a new mission, and new godlike powers. But now that the secret of his ultimate goal is revealed, readers are more likely to find him a creepy supervillain, as opposed to an intimidating one.

The Age of Revelation Ends With The Entire Planet Being Absorbed By Doug

Amazing X-Men #3 Revelation Comic Preview 5

With the remaining heroes of the surviving X-Men picking their way through a world ravaged by the X-Virus, the majority of human society has been outright murdered, with the few who remain transformed into Mutants themselves. Certainly an extreme strategy unleashed by Revelation himself, his former soldier Psylocke has now turned against him. And she has a good reason, once discovering Doug's plan is to infect, connect, and absorb/overwrite all biomass on Earth... to eventually convert the entirety of planet Earth into himself.

ASSASSINATION PROCLAMATION! X YEARS LATER, against all odds and with heavy losses, the X-Men reach Philadelphia, the capital of the Revelation Territories. But this is deep enemy territory, and the much-reduced X-Men will require significant allies in order to realize their objective: the assassination of Revelation, made all the more crucial by his true scheme coming to light!

Will Revelation Succeed in Becoming A Living Planet, or Fail Completely?

Assuming The Mission Doesn't Succeed, How Will X-Men History Remember Revelation?

With the official plan now revealed in the preview pages for Amazing X-Men #3, readers are sure to have some strong opinions about Doug's ultimate plan. Aside from the obvious comparisons to Marvel's other 'Living Planet' (which the X-Men themselves are also quick to make), fans must now decide exactly where to place Revelation in the overall rankings of great world-ending X-Men villains. At least in terms of their overall aspirations, both for themselves and Mutankind as a whole.

While Revelation will earn points for originality in his mission to subjugate the Earth, it will be interesting to see what Apocalypse thinks of the scheme. Considering most readers will also assume that Doug will not succeed in this task (with Marvel already teasing the new X-Men era about to launch), the focus may instead shift to how this strange goal will influence future storylines. And through it all, as is now the case in modern comics, if this event's shocking moments were worth the controversy.

Readers can personally support Doug in his mission to absorb Earth when Amazing X-Men #3 arrives on December 3, from Marvel Comics.
