It's the season to sit inside and play video games all day, and PlayStation knows it. In fact, you'll soon be able to get stuck into 60 hours worth of gaming goodness for the low price of nothing at all.

A huge new beta test for the upcoming open-world RPG Arknights: Endfield is set to kick off on PC and mobile tomorrow (November 28), but PlayStation 5 gamers who registered interest will be able to get their hands on the play-test for the latest entry a little bit closer to Christmas.

Arknights: Endfield Play-test Gives PlayStation 50-60 Hours Of Gameplay

That's certainly not to be sniffed at

Arknights: Endfield

For those who might not know, Arknights: Endfield is an upcoming free-to-play RPG with serious Genshin Impact vibes. It's based on the world of the 2019 mobile tower defense game Arknights, which already has an anime adaptation that's run for several successful seasons.

While the play-test for Endfield obviously represents a game that's still being worked on ahead of the title's planned full release in 2026, from December 12 PlayStation 5 gamers will have access to around 50 to 60 hours of gameplay. That's not too shabby for a free game that doesn't even require PlayStation Plus.

Here's the official synopsis for the game:

“Set in the universe of the hit mobile game Arknights, Arknights: Endfield introduces a new immersive story and a frontier world filled with exploration, real-time combat, and base-building. Players will command teams of up to four operators, all of whom will be fighting along their side simultaneously, allowing for skill combos, elemental synergies, and other coordinated strategies.”

Unfortunately, progress made during this period will be wiped once the servers close, so maybe take that into consideration before you make this one your new gaming obsession.

Not Everyone Can Join In

It's early days, so be patient

It's worth noting that only those who have applied to access the beta test can jump in on this one. You can discover whether or not you were officially selected to take part in the Arknights: Endfield beta over on the game's official website. If not, then you'll just have to be patient and wait for the next opportunity to come around.

There may be further tests, but it's more likely that we'll have to wait for the full release on PlayStation 5 in early 2026. You can, however, still pre-register.
