How Acquired
Cody was selected with the 277th overall pick in the 9th round of the 2019 MLB Draft. What Were Expectations? After a down year in 2024 that saw Cody OPS .664 for Double-A Mississippi (at the time), there were not many expectations for Cody outside of organization filler heading into 2025.

2025 was a struggle for Cody who began the season at Double-A Columbus. In 53 games, he would go on to hit .186/.323/.251 – sporting a promising 15% walk rate, but was striking out 29% of the time while producing very little power. Because of the lack of depth and injuries, Cody was promoted to Triple-A Gwinnett where he would appear in 50 games, and hit .211/.320/.282. Cody would steal 12 bases in Gwinnett, giving him 22 overall on the season, but his 70 wRC+ in Gwinnett, and overall 77 wRC+ on the season painted a picture of a player that was overwhelmed. What Went Right?Cody did get the chance in Gwinnett and was okay. His walk rate continued to be strong following the promotion which allowed him to sport an OBP of .320 despite the overall struggles at the plate.
What Went Wrong?
Cody was fine on the field, but at the plate he struggled. His combined line of .197/.321/.265 across 103 games creates uncertainty. 2026 Outlook
AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementAfter exploding onto the scene in 2023 where he hit .284/.378/.425 in 71 games, Cody has struggled at the plate the last couple of years. He is currently a free agent, and if he’s brought back into the organization, he will likely provide depth in Gwinnett.
