By Tyler EverettShareNewsweek is a Trust Project memberWeek 13 of the 2025 NFL season starts with a must-see Thanksgiving Day tripleheader.
From the Packers' trip to Detroit to take on the Lions at 1 p.m. (all times ET) through the final matchup of the day between the Bengals and Ravens, there will be outstanding NFL football for everyone to take in before, during and after their big Thanksgiving feast.
Below, we'll take a look at the Thanksgiving NFL betting odds and break down what to watch for in each matchup.
Current Odds: Green Bay Packers at Detroit Lions
How to Watch Packers-Lions
- Kickoff: 1 p.m.
- TV: FOX
Packers vs. Lions Betting Odds (via FanDuel)
- Spread: Packers +2.5 (+100); Lions -2.5 (-122)
- Moneyline: Packers +130; Lions -154
- Total: 48.5 (over -105; under -115)
The Packers (7-3-1) and the Lions (7-4) start today's action with a huge NFC North matchup. Both teams enter Week 13 just behind the 8-3 Chicago Bears in the NFC North, and both need to finish the season strong to guarantee a playoff berth as either the NFC North champ or one of the NFC's three wild-card squads.
Green Bay beat Detroit 27-13 at home to open the season, as the Packers gave up just one touchdown, which came in garbage time and cut Green Bay's lead from 27-6 to 27-13.
The biggest storylines in this game start with how the Packers will defend red-hot Lions running back Jahmyr Gibbs, who has scored eight total touchdowns (6 rushing, 2 receiving) in his last five games. Green Bay limited Gibbs to just 19 yards on the ground on nine carries in Week 1. As a team, Detroit only picked up 46 rushing yards on 22 carries in that contest.
For Detroit, if defensive backs Kerby Joseph and Terrion Arnold (both of whom are questionable) are back in action, the Lions will have a great chance to keep Jordan Love and the Packers' inconsistent passing attack in check. Love was solid in Week 1, but he's struggled the last three weeks with star tight end Tucker Kraft sidelined with a knee injury.
Current Odds: Kansas City Chiefs at Dallas Cowboys
How to Watch Chiefs-Cowboys
- Kickoff: 4:30 p.m.
- TV: CBS/Paramount+
Chiefs vs. Cowboys Betting Odds (via FanDuel)
- Spread: Chiefs -3.5 (+100); Cowboys +3.5 (-122)
- Moneyline: Chiefs -180; Cowboys +152
- Total: 52.5 (over -110; under -110)
The late-afternoon battle between the Chiefs (6-5) and the Cowboys (5-5-1) should also feel like a playoff matchup. Neither team -- especially not Dallas -- has any room for error as it pursues a wild-card berth in the playoffs. Kansas City squeaked past Indianapolis in overtime last Sunday, but it remains on the outside of the AFC playoff picture looking in.
Entering Week 13, the Chiefs are one of three 6-5 clubs staring up at the Chargers, Jaguars and Bills, who are all 7-4 and would be the AFC's 5-, 6- and 7-seeded teams, respectively, if the season ended today.
The Chiefs are nevertheless among the favorites in the AFC to reach the Super Bowl. Kansas City has gone 6-3 since its 0-2 start, but it has not been great in close games. In fact, Andy Reid's team is just 1-5 this year in games decided by 7 points or fewer.
Dallas is coming off a 21-point comeback win over the Eagles that sparked hope that it might be be a factor in the NFC playoff hunt, after all. Dak Prescott and the Cowboys offense have been impressive all season, and the defense has looked much better since acquiring star DT Quinnen Williams and veteran linebacker Logan Wilson at the trade deadline. Thursday will mark the toughest test of the season for the new-look Dallas defense, though.
Current Odds: Cincinnati Bengals at Baltimore Ravens
How To Watch Bengals-Ravens
- Kickoff: 8:20 p.m.
- TV: NBC/Peacock
Bengals vs. Ravens Betting Odds (via FanDuel)
- Spread: Bengals +7 (-110); Ravens -7 (-110)
- Moneyline: Bengals +270; Ravens -335
- Total: 51.5 (over -115; under -105)
The Thanksgiving Day slate concludes with another high-stakes matchup, this time in the AFC North. The Ravens (6-5) are in first place in the AFC North after winning each of their last five games following a 1-5 start.
This game could be a back-and-forth thriller if Joe Burrow is 100 percent healthy for the Bengals (3-8). Burrow has not played since Week 2 due to a severe turf toe injury. He's expected to be back in the lineup tonight, however, after being officially activated off injured reserve on Wednesday.
Last year, the Ravens swept the Bengals despite struggling -- to put it lightly -- to stop Burrow, Ja'Marr Chase and the Bengals. Burrow threw for 820 total yards, with 9 touchdowns and just 1 interception, in his team's 41-38 and 35-34 losses to their division rivals.
The Ravens D has played well throughout this team's ongoing winning streak, but it has not faced many potent opposing passing attacks. It will also be interesting to see how the Baltimore offense looks after underwhelming performances the last three weeks.
Will we finally see Lamar Jackson use his legs? The two-time MVP has not been a factor as a runner since returning from a hamstring injury in late October.
In fact, Jackson -- who averaged just over 8 rushing attempts per game and picked up 6.6 yards per carry last year -- is running the ball just 5.75 times per game and averaging just 5.2 yards per carry, his lowest YPA since his rookie season.
When Was the First NFL Thanksgiving Game?
The first NFL Thanksgiving Day game took place in 1934. The Lions hosted the Bears in the first edition of what has become a staple of the holiday.
Detroit has hosted a game on Turkey Day just about every year since, and the Cowboys have been a host of a Thanksgiving Day game since 1966, with the exception of 1975 and 1977.
The Lions are 38-45-2 all-time on Thanksgiving, while the Cowboys' all-time Thanksgiving Day record is 34-22-1.
