In the end, though, SU lost in overtime.

Syracuse did it without leading scorer Donnie Freeman.

Freeman has an apparent foot injury, which was first noticed when a social media photo posted by the team showed Freeman in a walking boot.

Last season, Freeman missed double-digit games with a Jones fracture to the fifth metatarsal in his right foot.

This season, Freeman was out Monday vs. Houston and seems unlikely to play Tuesday against Kansas.

But when will he be back?

Is Donnie Freeman out for the season?

No, Freeman is not expected to be out for the season.

His specific return date remains unknown. This is what The Daily Orange's Justin Girshon reported on Monday night:

There is a big difference between season-ending injury and back soon, so there's a bit of ambiguity there.

Freeman is Syracuse's leading scorer on the season, averaging 17.8 points per game.

He is also averaging 5.2 rebounds per game in his second season on campus after being a top-tier recruit before arriving at SU.
