"People in my family don't even call me Justin; they just call me garbage."
In news you don’t hear every day, Denver Broncos linebacker Justin Strnad revealed an unusual nickname his family still calls him: Garbage.
AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementYes, that’s the name he goes by, and his family still refers to him by it. In an interview with 9News, Strnad stated where the name originated from. According to Strnad, his family used the name to keep him humble and modest. Even when he would perform well or exceed expectations, they would still refer to him as “Garbage” or “Garb.”
So far, Strnad is having a solid season that’s far from “Garbage.” He’s totaled 48 tackles (18 solo) and an interception. He’s also totaled 3.5 sacks, and he had a strong game against the Kansas City Chiefs before the bye, totaling 10 tackles. So while his family has their nickname for him, his play says otherwise.
