Ohio State fans have been a year to get revenge on Michigan.

And on Saturday, they’ll get their wish when the No. 1 Buckeyes travel to Ann Arbor to play the No. 15 Wolverines in the 121st iteration of “The Game.”

It’s also a chance at redemption for head coach Ryan Day, who’s 1-4 against Michigan in his career.

The Buckeyes won a national championship last season, but some fans have boldly claimed they would gladly trade that title if they could erase their Nov. 30 loss to their archrival, which ended with an ugly on-field brawl between the schools that resulted in several players getting pepper-sprayed.

Judging from Day’s comments on Tuesday, most agree he’s clearly got revenge on his mind.

“Fun is kicking [expletive], and that's what we want to do on Saturday,” Day told reporters. “We're preparing to do that. There's nothing funny about this at all. The fun part is winning.”

Saturday’s game is the most highly anticipated matchup of the college football calendar, and perhaps no one is better qualified to analyze the game than former Buckeyes head coach Urban Meyer, who recently made his official prediction for who will win.

“Two names: Jeremiah Smith and Carnell Tate,” Meyer said, via On3. “If they play, they cover. If they don’t, they won’t. I still think the Buckeyes win, I just don’t see the Wolverines moving the ball against that defense. I don’t. All I can say is Vegas thinks it’s down to 10.5. Does Vegas know something?”

“I could make a phone call and figure out if those two players are playing, but I won’t do that. I don’t want to know. At some point I’d say something on purpose I don’t know. But if those two, maybe the two best receivers in college football, play then I think it’s a two score game. If they don’t, I think it’ll be a little tighter, but I think the Buckeyes still win.”

Ohio State hasn’t beaten Michigan since 2019. The Wolverines have won the last four meetings, outscoring the Buckeyes 130-84 in those games.
