Give me a lighthearted recap
The Nintendo Switch 2 was released on June 5 after much hype and anticipation, but the console lacked a strong lineup at launch. In an effort not to isolate existing Switch users, Nintendo opted to make nearly every single new game available for both the Switch and the Switch 2. This meant current owners of the original Switch could continue to enjoy new games, while Switch 2 owners got to experience the same games but with upgraded visuals and (sometimes) free upgrades to their favorite titles.
Now that the console has been out for nearly half a year, Nintendo's list of upcoming Switch 2 exclusives is steadily growing. We can expect the pool of exclusives to expand further as the holiday season approaches and the Switch 2 grows in popularity. Over time, Nintendo will want to start nudging Switch owners to make the switch to the Switch 2.
And that move starts now, with 10 exciting Switch 2 exclusives heading to the console soon. (Please note that I mean these games are exclusively available on the Switch 2 and not the Switch 1. Some are available on other platforms, as well!)
MARVEL Cosmic Invasion Is A Love Letter To The MCU
Releasing December 1, 2025
Created by Tribute Games and Dotemu, Marvel Cosmic Invasion is a retro homage to the Marvel universe in the style of coin arcades. The game is a beat-'em-up style brawler that brings together 15 familiar faces from across the Marvel roster of superheroes.
In classic arcade style, the game has both in-person and online co-op for up to four players, fully taking advantage of the Switch 2's emphasis on cooperative play. The game won't be available on the Switch 1, but it'll launch on other platforms and will support cross-play so you can game with your friends no matter which platform they're using.
Octopath Traveler 0 Is A Classic Square Enix RPG
Releasing December 4, 2025
Octopath Traveler 0 returns to one of Square Enix's lesser-known RPG series. The upcoming title gives new players a chance to experience the series through a brand-new story set in the same universe.
The game looks and plays like a traditional RPG with some new ideas, and includes over 30 companions to recruit, the series-specific "Path Actions" mechanic, town-building, and more. A demo is available ahead of release, though there's no telling how long it'll stay up.
Farming Simulator: Signature Edition Is A Surprisingly Cozy Game
Releasing December 9, 2025
If the farming portion of a cozy game is your favorite part, then Farming Simulator might be the game for you. The title will provide a hyper-realistic farming experience, whether you want to live out your farming dreams in North America, Central Europe, or East Asia.
Cultivate 25 crops and tend to livestock using over 400 machines and tools from 150 real-world brands. If you get tired of farming, you can also try your hand at forestry or construction.
The Signature Edition is the Switch 2 version of the title, which is based on the surprisingly relaxing Farming Simulator 25.
Final Fantasy 7 Remake Integrade Starts The Remake's Switch Journey
Releasing January 22, 2026
The first episode of Final Fantasy 7 Remake dropped in 2020, and next year, Nintendo will finally be a part of the exciting adventure. The complete first part will hit the Nintendo Switch 2 in January 2026.
Intergrade includes the base game, which features a retelling of the Midgar portion of the classic, and Yuffie's DLC, INTERmission. The Switch 2 edition also includes several additional goodies, like accessories, armor, summoning materia, and a Cacstar weapon for Yuffie.
Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined Revisits An Old Classic
Releasing February 5, 2026
Square Enix continues its series of Dragon Quest remakes with a 2.5D reimagining of the seventh title in the series. The remake will keep everything that made the original so special, while streamlining gameplay and adding combat elements.
The previous remakes were extremely well-received, and the same is expected of Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined. Fans will find improved story flow, additional class-specific combat perks to keep battles interesting, and much more.
This one isn't strictly a Switch 2 exclusive, since a Switch version will be available at launch. But this is one of the first cases of a game having a completely separate Switch and Switch 2 version, instead of one copy that can be played on either console or upgraded for the Switch 2.
PGA Tour 2K25 Is Golfing At Its Finest
Releasing February 6, 2026
Golf fans can touch virtual grass at the Switch 2 version of PGA Tour 2K25, which was released in February of this year. The realistic golfing game lets you hone your swings in career mode, compete in three championships and even design your own courses.
Online and cross-platform multiplayer will be available at launch, though it's worth noting that the online portion of the game has received criticism from fans on other platforms.
ChromaGun 2: Dye Hard Is A Puzzling Mix Of Magnets And Colors
Releasing February 12, 2026
Pixel Maniacs' colorful Portal-esque puzzler, ChromaGun, was released in 2016 to mostly positive reviews on Steam. Now, the sequel is heading for the Switch 2 as the platform's only indie exclusive (for now).
The game will arrive on PC, consoles, and the Switch 2 just in time to celebrate its tenth anniversary. Totally voluntary testing participants can solve color-based challenges using the titular ChromaGun to manipulate colors and apply various effects on the environment.
A knowledge of the previous game is not needed to enjoy the sequel, and there's a color-blind mode so that everyone can play.
Mario Tennis Fever Revisits A Beloved Spinoff Series
Releases February 12, 2026
Ever since the red-clad plumber arrived in gaming, he's been trying out a wide range of hobbies. Mario Tennis is one of the side-quests he and his Mushroom Kingdom friends have embarked on.
After nearly a decade, Mario and co. are ready to jump back into the sport on the Nintendo Switch 2 with Mario Tennis Fever. This time, the familiar characters will be equipped with various magical tennis rackets that can change the entire match by setting the court on fire, duplicating you, shrinking your opponent, and much more.
It looks like a chaotic good time and, like other Mario titles, is a true Nintendo console exclusive. This means the Nintendo Switch 2 will be the only place where you can play the title when it launches early next year.
Resident Evil Requiem Stars A New Protagonist
Releases February 27, 2026
The newest addition to the Resident Evil franchise will launch on all platforms simultaneously, and that includes the Nintendo Switch 2. And it will certainly need the improved hardware to run the realistic, almost movie-like game smoothly.
Resident Evil Requiem will follow a new protagonist, Grace Ashcroft, as she returns to the hotel where her mother was brutally killed years earlier. (It also may or may not feature series staple Leon Kennedy, but Capcom has neither confirmed nor denied this fact.)
Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection Continues The Adventure
Releases March 13, 2026
Monster Hunter Stories is a cuter, more colorful version of the Monster Hunter franchise. The games are set in the same universe and feature more cartoonish versions of the classic MH monsters.
Monster Hunter Stories 3 continues the saga with a new story set in a world that's facing mass extinctions and war. That is, until an egg hatches not one but two Rathalos, long thought to be extinct.
While the previous two games were available on the Nintendo Switch, the third installment will only be playable on the Nintendo Switch 2 (as well as other, non-Nintendo consoles).
