CLINTON — MAIS executive director Barrett Donohoe told The Clarion Ledger on Nov. 24 that the MAIS is reviewing a fight that resulted in several ejections, marring the Class 4A-Division III football state championship game between Lamar School and Brookhaven Academy on Nov. 22 at Robinson-Hale Stadium.
Two Lamar School football players, a Brookhaven assistant and a person associated with the Brookhaven program were ejected and escorted off the field, after a fight broke out on the Brookhaven sideline in the second quarter of Lamar School's 34-17 win over Brookhaven, according to the broadcast of the game on YouTube.

As he crossed the sideline near Brookhaven's bench, he was shoved in the shoulder by someone with the Brookhaven program and fell to the ground.

The Lamar player got up and threw the football in the direction of the person who shoved him but hit a Brookhaven player in the helmet. A Brookhaven assistant charged at the Lamar player and both were separated. All three were ejected along with a second Lamar player, according to the broadcast.

Lamar School coach, Jacob Land, responded to The Clarion Ledger's request for comment, through a text message on Nov. 24.
"Lamar does not have a comment on the actual situation that took place on their (Brookhaven's) sidelines," Land texted. "I can say that I have talked to coach (Ryan) Ross at Brookhaven Academy since and we had a great conversation. Coach Ross is a great football coach and great leader of young men, and I have a lot of respect for him."
"What I take from the game is how our team showed a lot of resilience and stuck together. They are state champions and I cannot express how proud of them I am."
