Millie Bobby Brown speaks about her relationship with David Harbour following the alleged claims of him bullying her on the set of Stranger Things. On November 1, only weeks before the debut of Stranger Things season 5, it was alleged that Brown filed a complaint about Harbour bullying and harassing her prior to the filming of the final season.
Brown and Harbour seemingly quashed these allegations days later on November 6, when they reunited on the red carpet of season 5's world premiere in Los Angeles, where they were all smiles and laughs as they greeted each other. This was followed up by a report from Variety, where sources claimed that Brown had made a complaint, but it was resolved after an investigation.
A few days after the premiere, Brown spoke with The Hollywood Reporter and explained why it was important to make it clear that she and Harbour were united and on the same page. Check out her comments below:
We’ve been doing that for the last 10 years. I mean, we have always been united in that. We love this show with everything, and we value our friendship more than anything.
She expanded on this by sharing how it was "so nice" and "really exciting" to "come back together" with Harbour in season 5 as they brought the stories of Eleven and Jim Hopper to a conclusion.
It was quite nostalgic because it reminded me so much of season two and three, where we’re both kind of butting heads and she’s growing up, she’s trying to find her own voice and he’s trying to parent, and that dynamic definitely comes back into play once again, and I’m really excited for people to see that. And I think some of people’s favorite scenes of Eleven are Ele and [Hopper], so I’m really excited to have that come to screen once again.
Brown does not directly address the alleged complaint she made against Harbour, but she makes her stance on the relationship with her co-star clear in her comments.
As she alludes to, Eleven and Hopper's relationship was a central focus in earlier Stranger Things seasons, particularly seasons 2 and 3, where the two characters shared many scenes together and developed a father-daughter bond.
Season 4 had Eleven and Hopper separated in different parts of the world, but they are both back in Hawkins, Indiana in season 5. This means that Brown and Harbour were sharing more scenes together during season 5 filming than they had in years.

While standing next to his brother and fellow co-creator, Matt Duffer, Ross Duffer addressed the allegations during the red carpet premiere.
Obviously, you understand I can’t get into personal on-set matters, but I will say we’ve been doing this for 10 years with this cast, and at this point they’re family and we deeply care about them. So, you know, nothing matters more than just having a set where everyone feels safe and happy.
When asked how production responds to a bullying complaint, Stranger Things director and executive producer Shawn Levy also spoke on the matter.
You have to create a respectful workplace where everyone feels comfortable and safe, and so we did everything to build that environment. And we’re proud of the fact that we did so.
I’ve read a bunch of stories and they range from wildly inaccurate to … there’s so much noise around it. But the truth is that we view this crew and this cast as family, and so we treat each other with respect, and that’s always been bedrock.
Stranger Things season 5's Netflix release began with four episodes on November 26, allowing fans to see what happens next to Eleven, Hopper, and other key characters. Episodes 5-7 come to the streaming platform on December 25, followed by the series finale on December 31.
