Chargers running back Omarion Hampton had his 21-day practice window opened up on Tuesday after missing time due to an ankle injury that had sidelined him since Week 5. Hampton was a limited participant on Wednesday.

With Hampton back in the mix, offensive coordinator Roman stated that he plans to use both him and Kimani Vidal in a "1-2 punch" shared backfield.

In Hampton's absence, Vidal posted 417 yards and two touchdowns on 96 carries (4.3 yards per attempt). While he did show big-play ability, he struggled with consistency.

Hampton's availability and workload for this Sunday against the Raiders, should be activated from injured reserve, will depend on how he fares in practice this week.

"They haven't told me yet, but I'm waiting to find out. Whatever my doc says," Hampton noted Wednesday. "I want to, for sure. But it's whatever the doc says."

Roman characterized Hampton's injury as "easily corrected, easily fixed," and not an injury that would compromise Hampton's future performance or running style.

The Chargers will have until Saturday afternoon to activate Hampton from injured reserve in order for him to play in Week 13.
