New details are coming to light in the death of NFL player Marshawn Kneeland.
As Globe previously reported, the Dallas Cowboys defensive end — who was said to have had a history of mental illness — died at age 24 from a self-inflicted gunshot wound following a police chase in Frisco, Texas, in the early morning hours of November 6.

The incident report also reveals that Kneeland crashed into a truck before he fled the scene and was eventually found dead inside a portable restroom.
“He just hit me out of nowhere. … I was in the lane. He hit me,” the woman driving the truck, who was not identified — and was not injured, according to DPS — told a trooper. “I saw him, and I tried to get back over cause I’m like, ‘Oh, he’s not stopping,’ and he just hit me, and then he started running.”
The Athletic reported that a trooper saw Kneeland make “several unsafe lane changes” and reached speeds “higher than 145 miles per hour” before authorities lost sight of the vehicle.
According to bodycam footage obtained by the outlet, troopers believe Kneeland’s car reached about 160 mph during the chase.

Per The Athletic, a letter from Frisco PD assistant chief Darren Stevens said the pending investigation “has not yet resulted in an indictment, conviction, or deferred adjudication.”
It is the reason why his autopsy results have not yet been released.
Following Kneeland’s death, it was revealed that his girlfriend, Catalina Mancera, is pregnant.
Before the tragedy, Kneeland — a second-round draft pick in 2024 — had just marked his first NFL touchdown earlier that week during the Cowboys’ Monday night victory over the Arizona Cardinals.
