The most recent episode of Pluribus featured a cameo from a Better Call Saul actor that even surprised the science fiction series' star, Rhea Seehorn.

Seehorn, who plays Pluribus' protagonist Carol Sturka, revealed to TV Guide in an interview that she was not expecting her former co-star, Patrick Fabian, to appear in the episode. The actor portrayed a lawyer named Howard Hamlin in the Breaking Bad spinoff, Better Call Saul. She told the publication, "They surprised me. I did not know about this."

The fifth episode, titled "Got Milk", sees Carol drugging Zosia (Karolina Wydra) and accidentally killing her. This causes the hive mind-controlled "Others" to run away, leaving her behind. She spends the rest of the episode alone with only a recording that the Others gave her, telling her that they will still help her from afar.

The voice that left the message was none other than Fabian. Seehorn explained why she believed she was left out of the loop about his cameo. "They were hoping to get some kind of blooper take from me," she said. However, their plan backfired. She further elaborated, "But I was so terrified to mess up a take. Not terrified, but I just didn't want to — because I knew it was a long take, too, the first time she hears it."

Although she didn't break while filming, Seehorn admitted she was pretty certain that she did at least have some sort of subtle reaction, and that she was able to mostly hide her shock. She also said that she immediately started to laugh after they yelled cut.

I don't know which take they actually use, but I think if you got one of those psychologists or psychiatrists that study micro facial muscle changes, I'm pretty sure you could see me go, What? Patrick? But then I tried to cover and play the scene. They called cut, and I started laughing and ran out and said, 'That's Patrick! You got Patrick!' And they said they'd been sitting on it for a long time, just to screw with me.

Seehorn told the publication that she agreed with their decision to cast her former Better Call Saul co-star for the cameo. She said that he had one of the greatest voices of all time, so it would make sense for the Others to use someone with such a "soothing" voice to leave a bittersweet message during a moment like that. The actor added that Fabian would have been the right choice regardless of whether it was an Easter egg or not.

Let's face it, even if it wasn't an Easter egg from Better Call Saul, Patrick Fabian does have one of the all-time great voices that I would imagine that the Others would have voted as one of the most soothing voices to be on the outgoing message. So I understand the decision.

New episodes of Pluribus are released every Friday on Apple TV.
