The Pink Buzz Cuts Unite Lynx Fans

Lynx players, Courtney Williams and Natisha Hiedeman, gave Lynx fans something new to cheer for, and it was their pink buzz cuts that launched their famous trademark and the community of the “StudBudz” duo. Their new Twich channel captures the essence of their energy and vibes, and it is contagious to everyone who watches.

These two have a Twitch account where they film getting ready for games, their daily lives, or, recently, what the All-Star weekend looks like as a player, which blew up their channel.

Where it All Began

The two players met for the first time when they played with the Connecticut Sun in Hiedeman’s rookie year. Williams took in Hiedeman under her wing, and she helped guide her through a big transition year for any player. They quickly became close friends from spending lots of time together.

When they came back together as teammates in January of 2024 for the Lynx, their connection immediately rekindled. With all the time they spend together in practices and training, they started throwing random ideas around when coming up with the now iconic StudBudz name to create content.

What It Means To Them

“We represent a community,” Williams stated in an interview with SLAM.

Williams and Hiedeman use this platform not only to share creative content but also to represent the LGBTQ+ community. They aim to break stereotypes about the gay community and to spread a sense of welcome to anyone who watches.

Originally, when Williams joined the league, there wasn’t a strong support system for LGBTQ+ players, but now to see the growth of support from not only the league but also the fans is something remarkable to both players.

While on the court, they say that friendship goes out the door due to their equally competitive drives. The StudBudz give us a new perspective on relationships within the league and how everyone connects off the court.

Pink takes over Target Center

The game where the Lynx won against the Golden State Valkyries, the pink wigs represented a shared bond between the StudBudz and the Lynx fans, and the energy was electric.

This showed how the game isn’t just about how good players are, but the players as people impact the game itself. These two have brought a new level of energy to the game, and it shows on the court when they play as well.

The two best friends hope to keep growing this community in the future and “take it as far as they can!” At any award show, Galas, or any place with high energy and vibes, expect to see the StudBudz there.
