LAHAINA, MAUI, HAWAII -- Offense was clicking on all cylinders Wednesday afternoon for the USC Trojans Men's basketball squad, and it happened to be at the right time as they had a date against the Arizona State Sun Devils for the Maui Invitational Championship. The Trojans traveled to the Island of Maui with one goal in mind, and they achieved it with the help of the production from Chad Baker-Mazara, as the Trojans would defeat the Sun Devils by a final score of 88-75.

The first half was as close as you could make it, as both the Trojans and Sun Devils were trading blows, primarily from three-point range. Rodney Rice, whose 27-point performance in the quarterfinals led USC past the Boise State Broncos, would not be in the starting lineup for the Trojans and was listed as questionable after suffering a shoulder injury in the semifinals game against Seton Hall.

Though his offensive production would be missed early, Baker-Mazara would pick up the slack, leading the Trojans in first-half points with 11 on 4-7 shooting, and he was hitting from beyond the arc early as well, shooting 60%. Senior forward Jaden Brownell, who played 15 minutes in the first half, added some extra production to the Trojans' three-point shooting, nailing 50% from the arc and notching 10 points.

The Trojans took over in the second half on both ends of the floor as Baker-Mazara continued his hot shooting by adding 12 second-half points, and would finish off this game with a team high 23 points on 9-16 shooting, 4-10 from beyond the arc, 4 assists, and 3 rebounds. Brownell would follow suit behind him, finishing the game with his season high of 16 points on 6-11 shooting and 3-7 from deep range.

All in all, the Trojans offensively shot great from the floor and, as a bonus, outrebounded the Sun Devils 32-21, with Jacob Cofie leading the team with 8 boards.

USC, still undefeated at 7-0, will now travel back to the States and have some time off before their next game, in which they will travel to Eugene to play the Oregon Ducks on December 2.
