The Atlanta Falcons defeated the New Orleans Saints over the weekend to end a five-game losing streak. The offense made enough plays to win the game, we still saw many of the same issues that have plagued this team over the first half of the season.

The Falcons went just 3-for-12 on third downs and lost the time of possession battle, but the defense held strong and allowed just three points. While the Saints still managed to score 10 points, seven of those came from Kirk Cousins' pick-six in the second quarter.

After the play, fans went back and forth over whether the interception was Cousins' fault, or the fault of tight end Kyle Pitts. Cousins targeted Pitts on a quick slant but the ball was tipped into the air and returned for a touchdown by Saints safety Justin Reid.

Re-watching the play, it's tough to totally blame either player. Pitts appeared to get hand on the ball, but his arm was clearly being held by the Saints defender. Plus, Cousins added a little hitch before letting the ball go, which gave the defense an extra second to anticipate the throw.

As you can see below, the reverse angle of the play paints a better picture of what happened.

Nonetheless, Cousins had an efficient day passing the ball. The veteran quarterback completed 16 of 23 attempts for 199 yards, two touchdowns and one interception. Falcons offensive coordinator Zac Robinson praised Cousins' performance, while also commenting on the interception.

"I thought Kirk did well," said Robinson. "Obviously it was a little different look from some different things. I thought he did a great job. Obviously the pick was unfortunate, but ball just popped up in the air. It's football. Sometimes those things bounce their way."

Robinson's offense continues to struggle on third-downs, but the team was effective in the play-action passing game with Cousins taking more snaps from under center as opposed to the pistol.

The Falcons will look to keep build upon last week's win over the Saints when they face the New York Jets on the road in Week 13. Sunday's game kicks off at 1 p.m. ET at MetLife Stadium.
