CAMDEN, N.J. -- The Philadelphia 76ers are looking to move on following a blowout loss to the Orlando Magic on Tuesday as they were unable to do much of anything right in the contest. The Sixers trailed by as many as 46 and the Magic used a big second quarter run to take control of the game.

In an effort to provide a spark for the Sixers, Andre Drummond started to mess with Magic big man Wendell Carter Jr. The two of them got into it a little bit with Drummond pretending to square up with Carter, but the two didn't do much.

Magic guard Jalen Suggs then got into the fray and pushed Drummond which then caused Sixers big man Jabari Walker to step in and defend Drummond. In the end, Drummond and Carter got double techs, Suggs was ejected with two technical fouls of his own, and Walker picked up a tech.,

"I thought it was pretty maintained, and then Suggs came in and kind of added an extra push and Drum wasn't looking," Walker said at practice on Wednesday. "So, I thought that's when I stepped in and just being competitive and standing up for my teammate. I'll do that for any of the guys. Just with the bond that we have and how close—I think it's important, especially to send a message when we're down. It could have that could have really been a spark for us. So, ai think it’s an opportunity that I wanted to take."

It's good for Walker to step in and defend his teammate. He and Drummond have formed a terrific friendship off the floor and the Sixers will take the chemistry that they have built to take on the floor. Walker has been happy to see Drummond play so well recently.

"Drum’s a guy I talk to all the time," Walker added. "We hang out outside of this. Just a down to earth guy, so seeing him perform on the court and then picking his brain afterwards is just therapeutic, honestly, and he feels like he's always had this. It’s just a matter of opportunity. So we've seen it. We know his ability, and the fact that he's been so patient and just his ethic and just his patience, and now he's able to showcase it."

While some thought Drummond didn't have anything left to give, he is showing otherwise as he's averaging 13.1 rebounds over his last 10 games and is averaging 10.7 boards on the season.

"Knowing who he is as a person just makes me even happier to witness it, and he has so much more left in him," Walker finished. "Like people think it was just Detroit or a stop somewhere. It's like, nah, sometimes you just need the opportunity, and it's tough to get 20 rebounds and 15 rebounds consistently. Like he really has a gift that I haven't seen anybody else do it at that level."
