A cinematic obsessive with the filmic palate of a starving raccoon, Rob London will watch pretty much anything once. With a mind like a steel trap, he's an endless fount of movie and TV trivia, borne from a misspent youth of watching monster movies on TV, perusing the sun-faded goods at the local video rental shop, and staining his fingers with ink from the Video Movie Guide. Areas of interest include science fiction, film noir, horror flicks, '70s disaster pictures, Bond movies, '90s action, giant robots, dinosaurs, super heroes, and the exuberantly schlocky output of Cannon Films. He also enjoys both Star Trek and Star Wars when they're good, and maybe even more when they're bad. As a Canadian, he also has a vested interest in Canadian movies and TV shows, especially the cheesier ones dubbed "Canuxploitation."
An expert on Marvel Comics, he has also written for the Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe, and is a member of the Marvel Research Team. He can frequently be found pontificating on comic-book continuity or bemoaning the misfortunes of the Toronto Maple Leafs on his Twitter account.

One crucial piece of every Star Wars movie is a stirring score. Now, we know the acclaimed composer who'll be providing it for Shawn Levy's new Star Wars movie, Starfighter. Thomas Newman, a fifteen-time Oscar nominee whose resume ranges from Revenge of the Nerds to Skyfall, will score the film, which is set to hit theaters on May 28, 2027.
Levy revealed that Newman will be scoring his new film during a recent appearance on the On Film...With Kevin McCarthy podcast. Levy described Newman as "a maestro," and went on to reveal that the score won't just be a recitation of John Williams' iconic Star Wars leitmotifs. However, Levy noted that like Williams, Newman "doesn't shy away from themes." Over the course of his four-decade career, Newman has scored a wide variety of films, including The Shawshank Redemption, The Green Mile, Road to Perdition, Finding Nemo, The Help, and 1917. He has also won an Emmy for his theme music for Six Feet Under, and five Grammy Awards. He is noted for experimenting with unusual instruments and nature sounds in his compositions. His work can most recently be heard in Netflix's The Thursday Murder Club.
What Other Composers Have Scored 'Star Wars'?
The iconic Star Wars composer is, of course, John Williams. The veteran composer scored the first three Star Wars films (winning an Oscar for A New Hope), returned twenty years later for the prequel trilogy, and came back decades later for the sequel trilogy. The Clone Wars, an animated feature set between Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith, featured music by Kevin Kiner, who would also score the animated series it spawned, as well as many subsequent Star Wars projects. The spin-off film Rogue One called upon pun-loving composer Michael Giacchino, while Solo featured the work of John Powell. The upcoming The Mandalorian and Grogu will be scored by Ludwig Göransson, who also scored The Mandalorian TV series it spun out of.
Plot and character details about Star Wars: Starfighter are being kept under wraps from now, but it will not feature any continuing characters or plotlines from previous Star Wars films, and will take place after The Rise of Skywalker. It was written by Jonathan Tropper, and will star Ryan Gosling, Amy Adams, Matt Smith, Mia Goth, Aaron Pierre, and Flynn Gray.
Star Wars: Starfighter will be released in theaters on May 28, 2027. Stay tuned to Collider for future updates.
