WWE’s recent docuseries with Netflix, WWE 'Unreal,' debuted to a mixed reception from WWE fans and critics. The show's premise was to provide an unprecedented look behind the scenes, detailing how matches are put together, how creative decisions are made in the writer's room, and even the live communication between referees and backstage personnel during a match.

For some fans, this level of access is intriguing. For others, revealing the inner workings of the business can destroy the illusion of professional wrestling, often referred to as ruining the "magic". Becky Lynch and Seth Rollins weighed in on this debate during their appearance on Bert Kreischer’s "Something’s Burning" show.

Becky Lynch was the first to give her perspective on the docuseries. Lynch stated that while the documentary style may chip away at some of the industry’s protected secrets, she would have loved the opportunity to watch such a show during her time as a young wrestling fan.

"We’ve talked about this. When we were fans, we would have loved to have seen it. We would have loved to have seen it," Lynch stated.

Seth Rollins followed up with a more critical view of the show. He expressed that while some parts of the documentary were fascinating, he generally dislikes the concept of pulling back the curtain on the creative process.

"Yeah, but I hate it. I do hate it. I don’t hate all of it. There’s some parts of it that I think are fascinating and interesting," Rollins stated.

The former World Heavyweight Champion explained that revealing too much information chips away at the essential "gray area" of professional wrestling. This "gray area," where the line between reality and the predetermined narrative blurs, is what Rollins believes generates the most excitement and investment from WWE fans.

The documentary series, which premiered on July 29, 2025, on Netflix, features stars such as CM Punk, John Cena, Roman Reigns, and Cody Rhodes, and dedicates a full episode to John Cena’s heel turn. Rollins argued that the small sense of unpredictability is the core element that makes professional wrestling magical.

"But there’s some things that, in our business… everybody knows what it is, everybody knows that it’s predetermined and planned, but the gray area, that one little question that like, 'Maybe they really don’t like each other. Maybe there’s something there. What could happen?'" Rollins said.

Rollins continued by noting the importance of preserving the element of doubt in the narrative.

"That unpredictability that it creates, that’s the magic, that’s where the magic happens in our business, is that little seed of doubt. And when you start to just chip away at that, it becomes a bit tricky".
