No anime movie in history has had as much hype behind it as Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle Part 2. Given the record-breaking box office run of Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle Part 1, all eyes are on what's next for the franchise, which is why it's so confusing that fans still have no idea when the film will be released.

Officially, Demon Slayer producers Aniplex and Ufotable haven't said anything about the release date of Infinity Castle Part 2. Though fans are speculating Demon Slayer's second Infinity Castle movie will be released in 2027, that is mere speculation.

While no one knows anything at the moment, there are signs pointing to Infinity Castle's release coming later than fans expect. Though nothing is confirmed, there is a distinct possibility that Infinity Castle Part 2 won't release until 2028.

The Lack of Information About Infinity Castle Part 2 Is Definitely a Concern

While it's one thing for Ufotable and Aniplex to avoid promising a release date to the public, there is evidence that other involved parties also know about as much as fans do.

In an interview with Hollywood Reporter, Crunchyroll CEO Rahul Purini said that Aniplex and Ufotable haven't decided on release dates for Infinity Castle Part 2 yet.

Well, we’ve announced that it will be a trilogy of movies, but our partners at Aniplex and Ufotable haven’t decided on dates yet. But look, there’s definitely urgency for all of us to bring more Demon Slayer to fans as soon as we can — because we know the urgency is there among the fanbase.

Purini's wording here seems very precise. It's not that Aniplex and Ufotable haven't revealed the release dates, or even that they haven't unveiled release dates to Crunchyroll, but that they haven't decided on release dates themselves.

This hints at a level of uncertainty regarding Part 2's release date. If Ufotable had Part 2 ready to go for 2026, it would definitely be strange not to announce that amid the flurry of good press Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle Part 1 got after breaking so many records.

Even though fans suspect a 2027 release, that might not be enough.

Infinity Castle Part 1's Production Suggests Demon Slayer Fans Will Have To Wait a Long Time For Part 2

Shinjuro's Reaction to Rengoku's Death

Infinity Castle Part 1 began development in 2022, meaning it took three and a half years to make and release the film.

If Infinity Castle Part 2 follows a similar production schedule, then that suggests a 2028 release date isn't just possible, it's probable.

What will really be the determining factor is when Part 2 began development. If development began long before Part 1, then a 2027 release date is possible.

If, however, Infinity Castle Part 2 didn't begin production until Part 1 was either done or mostly done, then signs point to 2028.

Demon Slayer is set to take the stage at Jump Festa 2025. It's entirely possible the presentation will be more of a victory lap, celebrating Infinity Castle Part 1's historic rise. But fans are hoping for some news about Part 2 at the event.

If Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle Part 2 doesn't get a release date at Jump Festa, then fans will almost certainly be in for a long wait.
