Arsenal vs. Bayern Munich match details
After routing Tottenham in an emphatic North London derby win over the weekend, Arsenal now set their sights on a massive European test as they host Bayern Munich in Champions League play on Wednesday.
AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementThe Gunners stomped their local rivals 4-1 on Sunday, further cementing their position at the top of the Premier League table.
Now, they face maybe their most difficult test of the season as they welcome one of the Champions League favorites to the Emirates.
Bayern have been unstoppable this season, having won all but one of their matches across all competitions thus far and yet to suffer a single defeat. They sport an outlandish +33 goal differential through the first 11 Bundesliga matches of the season and sitting top of the European league phase.
Arsenal will fancy their chances as the only other perfect Champions League team through four games, although they are missing one of their most important players in the match.

Arsenal lineup today vs. Bayern Munich: Confirmed starting XI
Formation: 4-3-3

Arsenal team news
Gabriel suffered a thigh injury during Brazil's win over Senegal at Emirates Stadium and remains sidelined. While that is a major blow, Piero Hincapie partnered William Saliba at centre-back against Tottenham and excelled. Fellow new signing Cristhian Mosquera has been excellent as a fill-in when needed this season as well, and rotates in.
Riccardo Calafiori passed fit on the weekend, but Myles Lewis-Skelly is given the start at left-back with the quick turnaround. Striker Viktor Gyokeres has targeted a return to play here after missing out on the weekend, but he's still not fit so Mikel Merino continues to deputize up front.

Arsenal injury list
Below is the latest injury picture for Arsenal, and estimated return dates for those who are sidelined.
Gabriel
Injury: Thigh
Expected return date: Late December
A mainstay of Arsenal's imperious defence, Gabriel limped off early in the second half of Brazil's 2-0 friendly triumph against Senegal. Arteta did not give an exact prognosis for his expected return but stated "weeks", as opposed to months.
AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisement"We need to have another scan next Wednesday, and we'll have the timeline probably much clearer than we have at the moment," said the Arsenal boss.
"It's clearly a blow because he's our leader in our backline and, to me, it's never a positive thing. The good thing is that we have very good options and we need to stand up now and do the job."
Victor Gyokeres
Injury: Muscular
Expected return date: Late November
Gyokeres put in arguably his most impressive performance since joining from Sporting CP during Arsenal's weekend win over Burnley, but this was curtailed at halftime.
Arteta said the player had suffered "a little niggle", although he missed international duty with Sweden and his next target is the Premier League game against Chelsea.

Injury: Knee
Expected return date: Early December
Havertz had a minor operation after damaging his knee in the opening win over Manchester United. Arteta is eager not to rush him back as the manager wants to keep the player fully fit for as long as possible. After the November international break is the target, although his return could come in early December, depending on when he gets clearance from the medical staff.
Gabriel Jesus
Injury: Anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) (left knee)
Expected return date: January 2026
Jesus has not played since suffering a serious knee injury in January 2025. Arteta said they are hopeful of having the striker back "between December and January", but he is cautiously optimistic that the Brazilian could return sooner.
