As the Black Friday sales get underway, we’ve rounded up the best games you can buy for the PS5, in terms of both price and quality.
Black Friday doesn’t technically begin until November 28, but most retailers revealed the majority of their biggest deals weeks ago.
If you’re looking for Christmas gifts, it’s the best time to pick up a cheap deal – with Sony taking an axe to the price of the PlayStation 5, while bundles for the recently launched Nintendo Switch 2 are cheaper than you might expect.
Beyond just picking up a bargain, you’ll want to know whether what you’re buying is actually any good, so if you’re a PlayStation 5 owner (or soon to be), we’ve rounded up all the best games which have been discounted in this year’s sales – with a bias towards more recent titles.

If you want to stay on the pulse of 2025, this dystopian role-player looks destined to sweep the end of year awards. Imagine Final Fantasy spun through a French lens, and with a genuinely captivating story about young volunteers who venture out to destroy a being who is killing them off at an ever-decreasing age. If the story doesn’t get you, the flashy turn-based combat certainly will.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 – £29.99
There might be arguments over which one of Insomniac’s Spider-Man games is the best overall (for our money, it’s probably the shorter Miles Morales), but when it comes to exploring open world New York, this sequel comes out on top. It’s a bumper-sized version of the same cinematic formula, and one with some storytelling quibbles, but visually it’s one of the best PlayStation 5 showcases out there.

Split Fiction – £28.99
Hazelight Studios has carved out a niche with its elevated co-op experiences, and their latest title might be the best of the bunch. If you can get past the annoying protagonists, this is a blistering volley of creativity – as you jump between sci-fi and fantasy worlds, and flip from platforming, shooting, and puzzle-solving at a thrilling pace.

The Last Of Us Part 2 Remastered – £21.49
Everyone’s heard of The Last Of Us at this point, thanks to the HBO TV show, but there’s a reason it has stayed in people’s minds all these years later. This remastered version of The Last Of Us Part 2 is one of the most visually stunning games ever and, gameplay wise, is far more robust and satisfying than its 2013 predecessor.

Forza Horizon 5 – £35.74
One of the best Xbox exclusives migrated to the PlayStation 5 earlier this year, and unless you’re a Gran Turismo fan, it’s the best racing game on the system. It’s more arcadey and less serious than Sony’s game though and has cemented the Forza Horizon series as arguably Xbox’s most popular first party series. A sequel, set in Japan, is set to launch at some point next year.

Elden Ring – £21.99
FromSoftware successfully adapted the Dark Souls formula to an open world in this momentous role-player, which is simultaneously the most approachable and overwhelming game they’ve ever released. Of all the games on this list, this is the one people will be talking about, and still dissecting, in the decades to come. It’s a little older than some of these others titles but still well worth picking up.

Astro Bot – £33.99
At a time when PlayStation has become synonymous with serious franchises like The Last Of Us and God Of War, Astro Bot is a refreshingly unpretentious tonic. This 3D platformer is both a technical showcase and a celebration of PlayStation history, with nods to the past sprinkled throughout the inventively-designed levels.

Death Stranding 2: On The Beach – £41.99
Hideo Kojima, the brain behind Metal Gear, is let off the leash with this sequel to his original dystopian walking simulator, although the sequel has a stronger action tilt. Like others on this list, it’s a stunning technical showcase, and one which will dumbfound you like no other. If you want a divisive, but original experience, this should be top of the list.

Silent Hill f – £48.99
If the Silent Hill 2 remake steered the franchise back to its roots, this new entry has set its course for an exciting future. Set in Japan in the 1960s, this survival horror is grisly in both its narrative themes and monster designs, as you navigate a town consumed by fog. It’s very different from any of the previous games but an equal to Silent Hill 2 in terms of the storytelling and the humanity of its protagnist.

Indiana Jones And The Great Circle – £48.99
Indiana Jones might be past it when it comes to big screen outings, but this story-driven adventure from the creators of Wolfenstein is the best Indy romp since 1989’s The Last Crusade. Troy Baker replaces Harrison Ford in the lead role, but his voice likeness is uncanny, in what is a rollicking mix of set pieces, stealth action, and puzzles.
