The New England Patriots will place left tackle Will Campbell on injured reserve and sign cornerback Miles Battle to the 53-man roster, head coach Mike Vrabel told reporters Wednesday.

Campbell had to be carted off in the second half of a Week 12 win over the Cincinnati Bengals with a knee injury.

The rookie, whom the Pats selected No. 4 overall in this year's draft, has been second-year quarterback Drake Maye's blindside protector this season.

Campbell will have to miss four games because of his IR designation. The soonest he can return is the Patriots' Week 18 regular-season finale versus the Miami Dolphins since New England has a bye in Week 14.
