Tracker has established itself as a one-man show, with Justin Hartley's Colter Shaw using his skills to find missing people. He does not have an official partner like many procedural main characters. However, he occasionally teams up with people from the different towns he finds himself in. In Tracker Season 2, Episode 6, "Trust Fall", Colter teamed up with a retired police officer, Keaton, to look for missing campers. The duo struck a rapport, and Keaton (Brent Sexton) would later help Colter with a personal case. CBS has confirmed that viewers will see more of the Colter-Keaton magic when the character returns this season.
Keaton appears in Episode 9, "Good Trouble," airing on Sunday, December 14, after he seeks Colter's services. "When Colter's old friend Keaton asks for help finding his former partner, they uncover a trail of bodies and a conspiracy that runs deeper than they could have imagined," reads the episode's official logline. This marks the third time the duo has worked together, following their past two team-ups in Season 2. After they found the campers, Colter revealed that he had a white whale case he'd been working on for ten years and asked Keaton to look at it with fresh eyes. Keaton would find clues and guide Colter in solving Gina Pickett's case, which had troubled the rewardist for a decade.
Why 'Tracker' Will Never Give Colter a Permanent Partner
The main character regularly teams up with others. From Keaton to Billie (Sofia Pernas) and Russell (Jensen Ackles), Colter has a wealth of potential partners to choose from, but he does not need any of them. He thrives on being a lone wolf who adapts to whichever environment he finds himself in. Next Sunday's episode finds him straddling two worlds as he investigates his father's past before meeting someone in need. The logline for Tracker Season 3, Episode 7, "Eat the Rich," teases:
While chasing down leads about his father's past, Colter meets a man desperate to find his daughter, who vanished while working a courier route. As Colter retraces his steps, he's pulled into an orbit of a wealthy family and their ruthless fixer, who will stop at nothing to keep their secrets buried.
Tracker Season 3 stars Hartley, Fiona Rene (Reenie), and Chris Lee (Randy). Other cast members include Wendy Crewson (Mary Dove Shaw) and Cassady McClincy Zhang as Melanie "Mel" Day. New episodes air on CBS on Sundays.
Catch this week's episode at 9 p.m., and Keaton's return episode on December 14. Stay tuned to Collider for more updates.
