By Evan MasseyShareNewsweek is a Trust Project memberThe Green Bay Packers are set to play their second straight NFC North rivalry game on Thanksgiving Day against the Detroit Lions. Last week, they were able to take care of business with a huge 23-6 win over the Minnesota Vikings.
Matt LaFleur and company are currently 7-3-1 heading into this week's game. After beating the Lions in Week 1 at Lambeau Field, being able to sweep the two-game season series would be a huge step towards the playoffs for the Packers.
Following this week's game against Detroit, Green Bay will play yet another NFC North rivalry game. The Packers will play host to the Chicago Bears at Lambeau next week.

With that being said, Green Bay received some major news heading into the matchup against the Lions.
...As shared in a report from NFL insider Ian Rapoport, star running back Josh Jacobs is expected to play for the Packers. That will be a major lift for the Green Bay offense, although Emmanuel Wilson performed admirably last week against the Vikings stepping into the starting role.
Jacobs makes an impact far beyond his numbers on the field. He has become one of the main leaders in the locker room and certainly on the offensive side of the football. Having him back will give the Packers a much more feared running attack.
So far this season for Green Bay, Jacobs has carried the football 169 times for 648 yards and 11 touchdowns, averaging 3.8 yards per carry. He has also caught 28 passes for 237 yards.
Granted, his numbers have not been as dominant as they were during his first season with the Packers. Despite that fact, he is still a high impact player and will help the team's cause against a tough Detroit team.
On the other side of this matchup, the Lions enter with a 7-4 record and are fresh off of a hard-fought win over the New York Giants last week. They are right behind Green Bay in the NFC North standings. A win would help position them nicely for the playoffs as well.

This is a huge game for both teams. All the Packers can hope for is that Jacobs is 100 percent healthy and that Jordan Love plays at a high level. Defensively, Green Bay has been elite for most of the season and need to continue that this week.
The Packers and Detroit are scheduled to kick off at 1:00 p.m. ET on Thursday afternoon.
