Injured Italian alpine skiing star Federica Brignone has started recreational skiing and completed light runs as she recovers from a serious injury, the Italian Winter Sports Federation (FISI) said in a statement on Wednesday.

Brignone won the overall World Cup for the second time last season before suffering tibia and fibula fractures as well as a ruptured cruciate knee ligament in a crash at the national championships in early April.

She will continue to train on the slopes in Cevinia and in the gym in the coming weeks, FISI said.

It's unclear yet whether Brignone will be fit for the 2026 Olympics on home soil in Milan and Cortina d'Ampezzo in February.

She recently said she hasn't giving up on the Olympic dream yet and that she's working "really hard" for it.
