The Jacksonville Jaguars have designated safety Eric Murray to return from injured reserve on Wednesday.

He is now able to return to the practice field.

The Jaguars placed Murray on injured reserve prior to their Week 9 matchup with the Las Vegas Raiders. He has missed the IR minimum of four games, making him eligible to return to practice.

With Murray's practice window open, the Jaguars have 21 days to add him back to the 53-man roster. That can occur at any point within that time frame.

In seven games this season, Murray has recorded four quarterback pressures, while making 34 total tackles, along with logging three pass breakups and an interception, according to PFF.

Without Murray, Andrew Wingard and Antonio Johnson have started at safety. In this most recent game, Rayuan Lane played a career-high 26 snaps as the third safety. Under defensive coordinator Anthony Campanile, we've seen a lot of three-safety looks from the Jaguars this season.

Along with Murray being designated to return, the Jaguars also announced that they signed safety Trevian Thomas to the practice squad.
