Will Trent season 4 gets a lively trailer that ignores concerns about possible major character deaths. As network TV's 2025-2026 cycle continues, some shows are still waiting to come back for their respective seasons. That includes Will Trent, as ABC, once again, delays its return from its summer hiatus to a midseason premiere. Frustrating as it may be, Ramón Rodríguez's procedural has found success with this set-up, so it isn't entirely a bad thing.

As one of the most-watched shows on ABC, the Karin Slaughter story-turned-TV series has been garnering 4-5 million viewers every week for the network. Will Trent is currently renewed until season 4, but if it is able to maintain its popularity, it's safe to say that it will continue its run on the small screen for several more years. For now, however, the show is looking at potential major shake-ups when it returns this January.

One would not realize that Will Trent is in danger of losing two series regulars based on the new trailer released by ABC. In the clip, Rodríguez's protagonist is joined by the rest of the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) busting some moves to “Time Has Come Today” by The Chambers Brothers. Watch the lively promo below:

As a refresher, the Will Trent season 3 finale featured a few character developments that are expected to play out in season 4. For starters, it was revealed that Angie is pregnant with Seth's baby. While she and Will were technically broken up, there were still a smattering of hope that they might find themselves getting back together. This is still a possibility, even with Angie's current situation, but having a child would bring some changes to how they approach things.

Elsewhere, Amanda's life hung in the balance, as she was fatally hit during the hostage situation. Meanwhile, Ormewood's brain tumor storyline made an unexpected development when he suddenly collapsed. Right now, both of their fates remain uncertain. Despite that, Jake McLaughlin and Sonja Sohn are happily dancing with Rodríguez and the rest of the cast in the aforementioned trailer, giving fans hope that Amanda and Ormewood will eventually survive their respective ordeals.

What's curious is if the clip is an indication of the overall tone and vibe of Will Trent season 4. The ABC series has done a great job tackling both dramatic and comedic scenes, making it one of the more well-balanced procedurals on network TV. Luckily, fans don't have to wait for too long, as the show returns in just a few more weeks.

Will Trent season 4 premieres on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, on ABC.
