The Florida Gators are in need of a new head coach after firing Billy Napier in the middle of the 2025 season after a 3-4 start to the campaign. He leaves the Swamp with a 22-23 record as the head coach at Florida.
With Napier out, Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin emerged as the favorite for the job. However, Kiffin is locked in a standoff as he considers offers from Florida, LSU and his current program.
"On3’s Chris Low, Brett McMurphy and I reported on Friday night that Florida, LSU and Ole Miss are all expected to offer salary packages that would pay Lane Kiffin at least $13 million per year and approach the $14 million mark," On3's Pete Nakos wrote on Tuesday. "All three are prepared to offer at least $25 million in NIL roster investment for Kiffin."

If Florida doesn't land Kiffin, Nakos suggested Washington's Jedd Fisch would be considered.
"Florida and LSU have done work in earnest to be ready if they are left without Kiffin. At Florida, options include Washington’s Jedd Fisch, Louisville’s Jeff Brohm, Vanderbilt’s Clark Lea and Tulane’s Jon Sumrall. Missouri’s Eli Drinkwitz has become a popular name in the LSU search, too," he said.
On Wednesday morning, Fisch officially took over as the favorite for the job according to Kalshi, which gives Fisch a 40% chance at the job while Kiffin is sitting at just 30%.
Fisch previously professed his loyalty to Washington.
"Myself, my family, we love coaching at the University of Washington, and the ridiculousness of people that want to claim that because my wife and daughters are living in Arizona, because I have a 16-year-old who's been in five different schools in the last eight years to finish her high school, has anything to do with my decision," Fisch said.
However, the rumors linking him to the Florida job haven't gone away as the Gators attempt to find their Napier replacement. If Kiffin opts to stay at Ole Miss or chooses LSU, Fisch might get the call from Florida.
