Could Garmin launch something like the Whoop MG?
- Garmin has posted (and then pulled) a new teaser
- It's next device points to the 'future of wearables'
- We might see a screenless strap or a smartwatch
Might we get a new contender for our best Garmin watches list before the year is out? It looks that way, as Garmin itself has posted a teaser for the "future of wearables" on its official Facebook page in India.
It appears that the post has since been pulled, but not before it was spotted by Redditor u/Eastern-Signal-1778 (via GSMArena). We get a glimpse of a new device together with promises that it's "sleek", "smart", and "coming soon".

At first glance, the wearable seems to be a Whoop-style band without a screen. There have been previous rumors that Garmin is working on something like this, perhaps called the Garmin Recovery Band, according to those in the know.

Garmin did indeed launch a screenless band in the form of the Index Sleep Monitor back in June, but that's for sleep tracking only, and is a large strap worn on the upper arm. A device similar to Whoop's products and the Polar Loop could still be coming.

Finally a "whoop" device from Garmin? from r/Garmin
Some closer analysis of the image by well-known tipster the5krunner suggests this is actually a slim smartwatch with an LED light built into it, though it's not clear what current Garmin series the new device might fit into.
Considering the tagline is talking about the "future of wearables" it would seem that this isn't just an iterative update. Whether it's a smartwatch or a screenless strap, it's likely to be substantially different to what has gone before.
The team at Gadgets & Wearables speculates that this could indeed be a band without a display, in the style of Whoop, and that the LED light on the side will be used to show a variety of status information – such as battery level, for example.
