The quirky and incredibly addictive Vampire Survivors-inspired roguelite Megabonk has become one of the hottest indie titles of 2025, with players hailing its simplistic RNG-based gameplay loop that provides endless replayability.
Earlier this year, solo developer vedinad announced an update for Megabonk set to release around Halloween, appropriately titled the Spooky Halloween Update. However, as Halloween came and went, players were left wondering where the promised content was, with vedinad stating that they were still hard at work.
However, in another status update on the official Megabonk Discord server, vedinad confirmed that he is still hard at work on the new content, and noting that it's taking so long because he is working on a brand-new map, in addition to loads of other free content.
Megabonk Is Getting A New Map Very Soon
In an update posted by Megabonk solo dev vedinad on the official Discord server, it appears that the new free content rollout is taking so long because it's going to be bigger than players expected. While we knew that new content was going to release soon, we weren't sure exactly what that would look like.
Vedinad is "adding some more stuff" in addition to content already in the works, "which is why it's taking a bit longer." Further, vedinad is "working on a new map" that will be more than just "a reskin, but have some unique stuff as well." The announcement of a new map is huge news in the Bonk-o-sphere, and players will be more than happy to wait a little longer for it.
New Megabonk Content Delay Is Worth The Wait
Despite the exciting new content update being delayed well past Halloween when it was expected, players likely aren't going to mind the extra few weeks of wait time given an entirely new map is being introduced with new features. A new map means new challenges, new bosses, and a whole new reason to pick the game up and dive back in.
This isn't even to mention whatever other possible content may be included in the free update, such as new characters, items, tomes, or more. While nothing specific has been confirmed yet, the next update for Megabonk promises to be a huge win for fans.
