At this point, it seems fair to say that the New York Jets will draft a quarterback within the first few picks of the 2026 NFL Draft.

Rumors indicate that names such as Fernando Mendoza, Ty Simpson, and Dante Moore will be the Jets' three main options.
When examining who they’re going to take, Mike Renner of CBS Sports believes the Indiana product will be the pick, predicting the Jets will draft Mendoza with the No. 5 overall pick.
“Mendoza has drawn comparisons to Lions quarterback Jared Goff, which would make sense with former Lions passing game coordinator Tanner Engstrand being the OC for the Jets. He leads college football with 30 touchdown passes and is averaging 9.4 yards per attempt,” he wrote.

With the expectation of him playing Ohio State in the Big Ten title game, along with the College Football Playoff and more, evaluators will get a real look at who he truly is as a quarterback.
If he plays as well as he appears capable of, that will only confirm the Jets’ thinking when it matters most with the upcoming draft.
