One in particular that Jordan Leandre of Just Baseball recently spoke about was the Los Angeles Angels, who decided to move on from Taylor Ward in a deal with the Baltimore Orioles for Grayson Rodriguez.

Los Angeles made that move in hopes of improving its rotation, but it also leaves a rather sizable hole in the middle of its lineup, one that the former Braves slugger would likely help fill.

“This one is pretty much entirely contingent on Mike Trout and his ability to play the field in 2026. Having just traded Taylor Ward to the Baltimore Orioles, the Angels greatly raised the ceiling of their rotation. As a cost, though, their offense took a massive hit...

“Trading Ward for Grayson Rodriguez, while replacing Ward in the lineup with Ozuna, is tremendous value gaming by general manager Perry Minasian. Here’s what the Angels looked like before the deal went down,” he wrote.

If this is how everything played out for the Angels, and the team makes the necessary moves while also staying healthy next year, which will continue to be the biggest focus for them long term, it’s easy to see why Los Angeles could be one of the more interesting teams in the American League.

Adding a 35-year-old Ozuna might not change everything, but it would certainly help.
