The Boston Celtics hosted a "Move4Heather Night" at TD Garden this past Sunday (Nov. 23) evening to honor former Celtics Vice President of Public Relations Heather Walker, who passed in 2023 from a rare form of cancer, glioblastoma, according to a release circulated by the team. Walker had been furiously fighting against cancer beyond her own struggle before she left us, working to raise funds and awareness to fight her particularly aggressive form of cancer and the disease more generally.

Her husband Stephen Walker continues that struggle in the present with the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation (PBTF), and the Celtics host the event annually since her passing to honor her memory and keep up the fight against cancer.

"For me and my girls, this night is a reminder of just how special Heather was," said Walker. "Not just to us, but everyone who was around her. We are incredibly grateful to the Celtics organization for continuing her legacy."

"Heather’s commitment to helping others defined her work at the Celtics and her life," said Celtics president Rich Gotham. "Her example continues to inspire our organization, and it is an honor to support research and advocacy efforts that reflect her values and advance progress for those affected by this disease."

"Move4Heather Night is a powerful testament to Heather’s enduring legacy and the incredible impact she had on everyone around her," said PBTF board chair Jeff Gelfand. "The Celtics’ unwavering support in hosting so many families affected by pediatric brain cancer creates a sense of community and hope that is truly invaluable. Together, we are not only honoring Heather’s memory but also advancing critical research and providing strength to families navigating this challenging journey."

"Nights like this remind us of the progress we can achieve when we stand united," he added.
