Five games into the college basketball season, it's not often you see two undefeated teams. Such was the case Tuesday night, with UNC and St. Bonaventure battling in the Fort Myers (Fla.) Tip-Off.

When the final buzzer sounded, North Carolina remained undefeated, pulling away from a close halftime advantage for an 85-70 victory. The Tar Heels (6-0) now head into a Thanksgiving Day showdown against Michigan State, which dominated East Carolina in an 89-56 decision on Tuesday.

At first glance, you may think Tuesday was just another win for UNC. If you believe in superstitions, though, North Carolina is on the right track for college basketball immortality.

The Tar Heels are 6-0 for the first time since their 2016-17 season. That campaign serves as a great memory in Chapel Hill, with UNC winning its sixth NCAA Tournament Championship.

North Carolina's 2016-17 title-winning squad carried plenty of program legends and future NBA players, most notably Luke Maye, Joel Berry and Kennedy Meeks. Don't forget about Isaiah Hicks, Nate Britt or Kenny Williams.

Your 2025-26 Tar Heels are anchored by the towering, star post duo of Henri Veesaar and Caleb Wilson, who each tallied double-doubles in Tuesday's win. UNC is taller across its roster, which head coach Hubert Davis raved about during the offseason, plus needed depth and experience is playing a huge role in early-season success.

There are 11 new players on this year's team. If North Carolina keeps playing at its current level, a seventh National Championship isn't out of the question.
