The Washington Commanders had a much-needed bye in Week 12, and they'll return to the field this Sunday to host the Denver Broncos on Sunday Night Football.

The Commanders have very little hope of extending their season, even if Jayden Daniels does return. After the Broncos, they'll hit the road to play the Minnesota Vikings before closing out their season with four divisional games. They face the Philadelphia Eagles twice over that span, the Giants once, and the Cowboys once. It's a tough schedule, and they might be better off keeping Daniels on the sideline for the remainder of the season.

As we enter Week 13, here's a look at where the Commanders stand in a multitude of power rankings.

Maybe this offense will look a lot better in 2026 when WR Brandon Aiyuk, a former Sun Devil like QB Jayden Daniels, gets plugged into it?

Frank Schwab, Yahoo! Sports: 25 (+1)

Jayden Daniels hasn’t been cleared for contact and he’s unlikely to face the Broncos this weekend. So our Sunday and Monday night games this week are Broncos at Commanders with no Daniels, and Giants at Patriots. The NFL loves its NFC East teams in prime time, no matter what.

Diante Lee, The Ringer: 27 (-2)

Washington has a rough remaining schedule, making me wonder if the bottom will fall out on this team in December. The Commanders have two matchups against Philadelphia and a Week 13 primetime game against the Broncos. It's understandable that the team took a step back in 2025 after a magical 2024 season, and the injuries to Jayden Daniels torpedoed what hopes did exist this year. But if the Commanders don't play any better comin gout of the bye week and struggle down the stretch, we have to wonder if head coahc Dan Wuinn should keep the gig much longer.

Vinnie Iyer, The Sporting News: 24 (+2)

The Commanders are hoping they can get hot down the stretch to be more respectable in Jayden Daniels' second season, including some positive health and production from Daniels and his offensive assets. The defense, however, needs a lot of work in the offseason for Dan Quinn.

Pete Prisco, CBS Sports: 25 (+1)

Jayden Daniels is still likely out this week for the Commanders as they face a tough Denver defense. The season is all but done anyway.

Connor Orr, Sports Illustrated: 23 (+2)

I do think that Jayden Daniels creeping closer to game action presents an interesting thought experiment for Dan Quinn. While I defended Quinn for keeping Daniels on the field the night he broke his arm, Quinn obviously felt the heat of public pressure from those who don’t realize that a lot of quarterbacks are still in during those situations. But…he also has an opportunity to quietly walk that entire decision back by icing Daniels for the remainder of a lost season. Will he take it?

Josh Kendall, The Athletic: 26 (NC)

This feels similar to the Bengals. The teams are both 3-8, have terrible defenses and are preparing to bring back their injury-prone star quarterbacks. Is it more important for Daniels to grow at the end of Year 2, or is it more important that he’s healthy for next year?

Barry Werner, List Wire: 24 (+1)

Bye week.

Walter Football: 29 (+1)

The Redskins outgained the Dolphins in total yards and yards per play, but lost because of multiple turnovers. They were the true winners in Spain, however, because they improved their draft positioning.

Thanksgiving game memory: The RG III game in 2012

Rookie quarterback Robert Griffin III had arguably his best day in a magical season against the Cowboys in a 38-31 win. He completed 19 of 27 passes for 304 yards and four touchdowns -- with one pick -- versus the NFL's sixth-rated pass defense entering the game. Fellow rookie Alfred Morris ran for 113 yards and a touchdown, but the day was all about Griffin, who was raised in Texas and played nearby at Baylor. "When you go back, you want to put on a show," he later told ESPN. It was Washington's second win of a seven-game winning streak to end the regular season.
