Iowa women's basketball makes largest jump in USA TODAY coaches poll

Iowa's pair of wins in the WBCA Showcase in Orlando, Fla., caught the pollsters attention.

In the latest edition of the USA TODAY Sports women’s basketball coaches poll, Iowa (6-0) made the largest jump of any team. After wins over then-No. 10 Baylor and Miami, the Hawkeyes climbed six spots to No. 14 nationally.

Led by the USBWA's National Player of the Week in sophomore center Ava Heiden, Iowa topped Baylor, 57-52, and then Miami, 64-61. Heiden registered her third double-double of the season against Baylor, scoring a team-high 18 points, grabbing 11 boards and recording three assists.

Then, the Sherwood, Ore., native poured in 20 points in Iowa's win over Miami. Heiden was a perfect 9-for-9 from the floor in the game's first three quarters and she added six rebounds against the Hurricanes.

Other Big Ten teams in the latest coaches poll include No. 3 UCLA, No. 6 Maryland, No. 9 Michigan, No. 18 USC, No. 21 Michigan State and No. 23 Washington. Ohio State, Nebraska and Oregon are all receiving votes.

The top six in the poll remained unchanged, led by defending national champion and No. 1 UConn. Here's a look at the full USA TODAY Sports women's basketball coaches poll:
