Ole Miss sophomore running back Kewan Lacy has been named one of three finalists for the Doak Walker Award, given annually to the top running back in college football. He is the first Ole Miss player to ever be a finalist for the award. Notre Dame’s Jeremiyah Love and Missouri’s Ahmad Hardy are the two other finalists.

Lacy, a Dallas, Texas native, is a first-year transfer who began his career at Missouri. He is sixth nationally with 1,136 rushing yards and is tied for the national lead with 19 touchdowns, which is also a school single-season record for both rushing and all-purpose scores. Lacy has five 100-yard rushing games this season, including a career-best 224-yard performance against Florida. He has scored at least one touchdown in 10 of the No. 6 Rebels’ (10-1, 6-1 SEC) 11 games.

The winner of the Doak Walker Award will be announced on Dec. 12 at the Home Depot College Football Awards on ESPN.
