The week started off with Notre Dame men’s basketball taking a tough loss to Kansas on Monday afternoon, as the Irish battled but couldn’t ever make a run, but overcame some adversity with a game today defeating a Rutgers that wouldn’t give up, 68-63.

Notre Dame improved to 5-2 on the year, as its star guard Markus Burton led the way. He scored 21 points on 9-for-13 shooting with 6 rebounds, a much more efficient game than yesterday. Former 5-star true freshman forward Jalen Haralson established himself early and often, scoring 15-points on 6-for-12 shooting.

The Irish didn’t get much production from their bench, as Braden Shrewsberry also scored in double-digits making three starters reaching that mark. Notre Dame shot well from the field, 49% on the night, but missed a few three throws late to keep the Scarlet Knights in the game. Defensively, the Irish bothered Rutgers, holding them to just 39% shooting from the field.

As of right now, Notre Dame doesn’t know who its next opponent will be, as the Players Era Championship have yet to announce the matchup. The Irish could play on Wednesday or Thursday, as they will wait to find out when they’ll be back on the court.
