The Los Angeles Lakers announced the signing of 6-foot-10-inch forward Drew Timme on a two-way deal on Tuesday morning, waiving center Christian Koloko in the process to make room for the new addition.

Timme, 25, spent most of this early season with the team's G-League South Bay Lakers, where he got the organization's attention from his stellar play that earned him G-League Player of the Week from Nov. 7 to Nov. 16. In that week span he averaged 30 points, 7 rebounds, and 4.7 assists.

He also got to get some action with LeBron James, who was assigned to South Bay while the Lakers were on a five-game road trip.

In six games (six starts) with South Bay, Timme posted 25.5 points, 7.7 rebounds, and 4.0 assists while shooting 33% from 3-point range on five attempts per contest.

The Texas native made his NBA debut in March of last season with the Nets. He averaged 12.1 points, 7.2 rebounds and 2.2 assists in nine games (two starts) for Brooklyn. Timme posted three double-doubles and scored in double digits in seven of his nine games, with his highest being a 19-point outing.

Timme has spent most of his career within the G League, spending his first season in the NBA with the Bucks organization in his first year after going undrafted in the 2023 draft out of Gonzaga.

He stayed at Gonzaga University all four years, where he became the Bulldogs' all-time leading scorer in 134 games (105 starts) played, averaging 17.2 points, 6.7 rebounds and 2.4 assists. Timme earned First Team All-America honors and was named WCC Player of the Year as a senior.

Timme will wear No. 17 for the Lakers, which was last worn by Dorrian Finney-Smith.

The Lakers will be without bigman Deandre Ayton in Tuesday matchup against the Clippers, which increases Timme's chances of seeing action but doesn't guarantee it, as he's being acclimated to coach JJ Redick's system.
