Today’s Tuesday afternoon opponent is the Syracuse Orange. It might be a slightly tougher opponent than yesterday, as Syracuse is coming off a close overtime loss to Houston. KenPom ranks them 51st while Torvik says 53rd (KU is 22nd and 19th, respectively). The Jayhawks are currently a 3.5 point favorite after the line ballooned briefly to 5.5 this morning.

The good news is that Syracuse does not shoot many threes, nor do they make many of the ones they take. The bad news is they still have a respectable eFG% through hitting over 60% from two. Defensively, they’re rated surprisingly low given that they have the 2nd best two point defense in the country, though that comes with a grain of salt given the pillow-soft schedule they played up until yesterday’s game. Expect Syracuse to roll with some length, using a variety of players generally ranging from 6’4 to multiple primary players listed at 6’9. They also have a 7-footer, but he doesn’t see the court.
