Spanish & French media have reported that Kylian Mbappe directed verbal insult at the referee following Real Madrid’s 2 - 2 draw away to Elche on Sunday during matchday 13 of the 2025 /26 La Liga season.

Mbappe was visibly furious after the final whistle and received yellow card for dissent.

But new details emerging from RMC Sport citing DAZN Espana, suggest the altercation went beyond standard protests.

What the footage captured

According to the report, Mbappe lost his temper completely as he demanded explanation from the referee over what he believed was excessive time wasting that went unaddressed.

DAZN cameras reportedly picked up Mbappe, in French repeating the phrase:

"You stupid jerk , get away"

The incident may have gone unnoticed by the referee because the comments were made in French.

Could La Liga’s disciplinary committee intervene?

RMC notes that Mbappe could face retrospective action if the Spanish Football Federation’s disciplinary body decides to open investigation into the footage.
