There are nine committed Division I athletes on the slate (with more in the future). That includes players headed for the Southeastern Conference and the Big 12 Conference. Teams also view this event, quickly becoming a staple on the calendar, as strong preparation for the state tournament.

"Just excited to get a chance to showcase girls basketball again and have some quality players in the gym," North coach Tyler Choate said. "You look at last year, Silver Creek and Greensburg played. It was kind of like a preview of the postseason. I think it's high-level basketball that has a postseason feel."

Top Games to Watch

Hamilton Southeastern vs. Central: The highlight of day one. HSE, No. 3 in Class 4A with a pair of Division I recruits in Holman (Florida) and Stidham (Bowling Green), is a state title contender. Central is down one starter, but reigning SIAC Player of the Year Shirley is back following a foot injury. A great opportunity to watch her compete against a tough opponent.

Floyd Central vs. Reitz: A candidate for top matchup to start day two. The Highlanders are 3-1 after winning the Class 4A sectional title a year ago (they lost to Gibson Southern in the regional). Coleman is headed to Western Kentucky. Reitz is making an early case for best team in Evansville behind Hape (Samford) and Wagner.

Greensburg vs. Hamilton Southeastern: The other choice for best matchup. No. 7 Greensburg advanced to the Class 3A state championship last year, losing to Norwell. The Pirates also have a Division I forward (Ball State-bound Larrison) to square up against Holman and Stidham. This doesn't feature a local team, but is must-see for those who enjoy basketball.

Roncalli vs. Mater Dei: A sneaky good matchup. Roncalli is No. 6 in Class 3A after advancing to the semi-state championship last year. Mater Dei is off to a strong start under new coach Terry Muensterman and allowing only 31.7 points per game.

Greensburg vs. Gibson Southern: Not a bad finale. Gibson Southern has won four straight, with Schnaus (multiple Division I offers) and Paridaen anchoring a new-look lineup. Could be an opportunity for the Titans to truly make a statement.

Honorable mention: Silver Creek vs. Castle. The Dragons are No. 1 in 3A with two Division I athletes in Renn (Kansas) and Schoen (Vermont).
