It's difficult to believe Nebraska hasn't won an NCAA volleyball championship since 2017, but this could be the year for the Huskers.

On the heels of an unbeaten regular season, Nebraska is the top seed in the NCAA tournament and will be favored to lift the trophy in Kansas City later this month.

The Huskers open NCAA play with Long Island University (20-8), champions of the Northeast Conference. While no one expects NU to have any difficulty considering it has dropped just one set since mid-September, die-hard fans will want to see how the favorite looks right out of the gate.

The Huskers don't begin NCAA play until the second day of the tournament, Friday, Dec. 5, when they will host Long Island University in the first round.

When is Nebraska volleyball's first NCAA game?

  • Time: 8 p.m. ET | 7 p.m. CT

First serve between Nebraska and Long Island will take place on Friday, Dec. 5, at 8 p.m. ET. The match will be played at the Bob Devaney Sports Center in Lincoln, Nebraska.

The winner moves on to face No. 8 seed San Diego or Kansas State on Saturday at 8 p.m. ET.
