LSU and Austin Thomas are going their separate ways, according to a Wednesday report from FootballScoop. The move comes just days after LSU hired Lane Kiffin as the Tigers' next head football coach.
Thomas' official title at LSU was Senior Associate AD / Football Administration, but Thomas served as the de facto general manager for LSU football.

But after Thomas left Ole Miss in 2024, it was unclear where the relationship stood. When Kiffin brought his Ole Miss GM, Billy Glasscock, to LSU, it raised immediate questions about Thomas' future with the Tigers.
Thomas played a significant role in the program under Brian Kelly. Thomas spearheaded transfer portal and high school recruiting efforts, while assisting with LSU's NIL management. LSU signed the top-ranked transfer portal class in the country under Thomas' leadership last year.
LSU fans shouldn't fret, though. Glasscock is highly respected and Kiffin and staff are proven roster builders.
