BYU (6-1) enters the game as a strong 20-point favorite and looks to build on a hot start to the season. The Cougars have been efficient offensively, shooting nearly 49% from the floor, and hold opponents to about 41.5% shooting, giving them a defensive edge. With A.J. Dybantsa and Richie Saunders both selected to the preseason All–Big 12 team, BYU has two reliable go-to players. Dybantsa (around 19.0 PPG, 6.4 RPG) brings athleticism, inside scoring, and rebounding, while Saunders (about 20.1 PPG, 5.7 RPG, 3-point shooting threat) stretches the floor and supplies steady perimeter offense.
California Baptist (7-1) isn’t an automatic win as the Lancers rebound well and play physical in the paint, often relying on interior scoring and second-chance points rather than outside shooting. That can pose a challenge if BYU lapses on defense or lets CBU control tempo and rebounding. Still, if BYU executes, gets Dybantsa and Saunders involved early, and avoids sloppy possessions, they should be able to use their athleticism and shooting to pull away. Expect a strong showing from the Cougars, with Dybantsa’s inside presence and Saunders’ shooting as key components.
