As the days continue to go by, so to do the options for Penn State coaching candidates. As the early signing period around college football swept the nation on Wednesday, headlines out of the ACC effectively removed two more options from Penn State's considerations in its coaching search.
Georgia Tech head coach Brent Key was the first of two ACC coaches to be wiped off the board on Wednesday. Key agreed to a new five-year contract extension to remain with his alma mater in Atlanta. Key will now be locked in to leading Georgia Tech through the 2030 season as he continues to raise the bar for the program and transform the Yellow Jackets back into a true ACC contender.
Key staying wiht Georgia Tech is not much of a shock. Key has felt like a Georgia Tech lifer for a while, and his comments don't exactly ring hollow when asked about his loyalty to the program.

It had previously been reported Brohm and Louisville were working on a contract extension, and that remains the case with a new deal likely to be revealed soon. In the meantime, CBS Sports reports Brohm has started letting people know of his intent to stick with the Cardinals after Penn State made a move to bring him to Happy Valley.
If you lost track of how many coaches came off the board just today, the first day of the early signing period, the count is up to three. In addition to Key and Brohm, Penn State will miss out on any shot at landing Ohio State offensive coordinator Brian Hartline, who is heading to South Florida to run the USF program. This comes on the heels of BYU head coach Kalani Sitake opting to stay in Provo instead of moving to Pennsylvania.
This is all cause for an updated coaching hot board, so stay tuned for a brand new update coming very soon.
