As fans look forward to the 32nd Century, ahead of Star Trek: Starfleet Academy's premiere on January 15, 2026, we're getting our first look at an exciting cast member. Rebecca Quin, known in the WWE world as Becky Lynch, plays a Starfleet officer in the upcoming spin-off. Collider is unveiling an exclusive first look at the wrestler turned actress in the new show. She's in Operations Gold as part of the bridge crew, sporting a bob with blue streaks in her hair, and nothing right away indicates she's anything other than human.

The upcoming series stars Holly Hunter as Captain Ake, who will also serve as Chancellor for the first post-Burn Starfleet Academy class. Some familiar faces you'll see in Starfleet Academy include: Sylvia Tilly (Mary Wiseman), Jett Reno (Tig Notaro), Charles Vance (Oded Fehr), and everyone's favorite Emergency Medical Holograph, the Doctor, played by Robert Picardo. There's also franchise newcomers Stephen Colbert, Bella Shepard, Zoë Steiner, George Hawkins, Karim Diane, Paul Giamatti, Tatiana Maslany, and Kerrice Brooks, among others.

Rebecca Quin Shares Her Favorite Part of Star Trek Growing Up

Quin in Operations Gold is fitting, given her favorite part of growing up watching Star Trek. Quin previously spoke about her experience filming for Starfleet Academy and what it was like growing up in Ireland watching previous series in the franchise. "I’m on the bridge crew, and filming on the bridge, it was one of the most amazing sets I’ve ever been on." She explains:

"I grew up when Star Trek was one of the two shows that was on TV in Ireland, on whatever four channels we had, so it was always on in the background. I can’t say that I sat down and watched, but I did love the movies. And Colm Meaney. We all love Colm Meaney, any time he was on, you sit down and watch that."

Meaney played Miles O'Brien, who first appeared on Star Trek: The Next Generation as an engineer, before moving on to be Chief Engineer on Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. In Star Trek: Lower Decks, he was dubbed "the most important person in Starfleet history."

Fans of DS9 will seemingly be treated to the cast's fondness for the Star Trek spin-off with a shot in the trailer of Starfleet Academy featuring the mystery surrounding the disappearance of Captain Benjamin Sisko (Avery Brooks) from the series finale. Starfleet Academy co-star Tatiana Maslany also previously told Collider of her adoration for the series as well, saying, "It has something to say. It's not a 1-to-1 about anything, but it talks about things in a way that you can feel this catharsis of watching shows that have a moral compass."

Check out the first look at Rebecca Quin in Starfleet Academy above. The series premieres on Paramount+ on January 15, 2026. Stay with Collider for the latest updates.
