Liverpool's Rodrygo chance

Liverpool have been fans of Rodrygo Goes for a long time now. They were actually attempting to sign him from Santos before Real Madrid and thought they had him at one point.

It was only the intervention of Santos youth coach Elano that stopped things. He was adamant that Rodrygo would develop quickly and that if the club waited a year, they could secure far more money than what Liverpool were offering for the teenager.

He was absolutely right and Real Madrid spent enormously on the then-18-year-old. Liverpool were never going to do that.

But fast-forward to 2025 and the Reds were once again heavily linked with Rodrygo. It was expected that he'd leave Real Madrid in the summer as Xabi Alonso didn't see a place for him - but the Brazilian wasn't willing to move.
